KEY FACT: EXERCISE WITH INTENSITY, SKILL AND PLAYFULNESS: YOU WILL BECOME LEANER, INJURIES WILL HEAL AND YOU'LL STAY THIS WAY FOR LIFE
Our bodies are designed for natural movement patterns e.g. running, fighting, lifting, playing. We evolved in an environment where we needed to do intense short exertion with lots of rest or 'active recovery' in between. We might have hunted, fought, run away etc. and then spent the afternoon sitting under a tree or gathering berries....
Wildfitness focuses on several key skills - wild running (or 'barefoot running'), boxing, lifting, jumping, balancing, swimming, climbing, throwing and many more which mimic the movements and intensity that our bodies are designed for. This is the key to getting a lean and pain free wild body.
Get lean: Each of us has a unique body. The Wildfitness definition of a natural body size is: ‘a body that is not too large that it stops you being able to move efficiently, and not too lean that it leaves your energetic reserves too close to the bone. Anything in between is a natural body weight.’
If you engage in natural movements regularly with varying intensities and eat what your body needs, your body will blossom into its natural potential. At Wildfitness we don’t focus on body shape or size as a goal. The act of enjoying moving in itself and enjoying real food results naturally in an athletic and graceful body.
Get pain free: The movements that you do most often: standing, walking, running, or whatever sport you do e.g. biking, are those which will have most effect on your body. Doing certain stretches or isolated exercises may help to alleviate pain but you have to change your movement patterns to change the load to your structure and therefore heal or prevent injuries.
Stay this way for life: In order to change and maintain a change, you have to be motivated by a sense of joy and / or engagement in your new activities. They have to feel fun, purposeful and aligned with the amount of energy you have to give them. If you fall in love with movement and your environment you will be climbing trees with your grandchildren.
